History The Rescue Squad acquired their current headquarters on McGoffin Ave in 1964. The property was donated by the Town of Spring City when the Organization was formed by local citizens. Previously the property had been owned by Stanley Buckleman, a second generation furniture maker. The Town had legally acquired the property earlier that year due to failure of the property owner to pay property taxes. The Buckleman Wood Works had been a successful family business in Spring City since Stanley's father began it in the late 1890's. The primary product built and sold was actually wooden coffins. Following WWII restrictions on raw metals were released and the Funeral Industry shifted to using metal caskets due to customer demand. This loss of business would prove to be the downfall of the once prominent community business. The facility had served as a factory, show room, and living quarters for the family business. When the Charter Members of the Rescue Squad took possession of the property they found something that made them almost decide not to use the building. After about a month the group decided to go forward with plans but elected to close off the former living quarters of the Bucklemans. None of the group would ever describe what was found within the barricaded area, they would simply insist that entry was Forbidden and that it was to never be opened. The Rescue Squad has functioned from the facility for 47 years. During that time there have been 3 additions and a complete renovation but the Forbidden area remained sealed until October of 2010.
