Incident

In 2010, a decision was made to open the Forbidden area and allow citizens to take self guided tours as a method of fundraising for the Squad. The event was advertised as "A Haunted Adventure" and turned out to be rather successful. But not everyone was in favor of endeavor. Donna Vaughn, local Funeral Director and Daughter of a Charter member of the Squad, was a vocal opponent of the activity. She expressed concerns with the plan and insisted that her Father made if clear that the area was to never be opened.

Donna actually recorded a video in which she explained the history of the property and the Rescue Squad. "I don't know what they found there, my father would never talk about it", she explained. Every participant was required to watch the video before entering and a few did heed the warning and not go any further.

Upon exiting, patrons described a variety of experiences. There were tales of terrifying occurrences, and signs of emotional distress along with soiled clothing. After six nights of tours the area was closed and the barricades were put back in place. The fundraiser had yielded much needed money for the Rescue Squad and was considered to be a success.

Over the next few months several missing person reports were filed with the Police Department, Sheriff's Department, and other agencies in surrounding areas. It has now been concluded that most of the missing persons may have participated in the Haunted Adventure last year.
